Evan Carlson is a Grand Rapids, Michigan native and a °ÄÃÅÎå·Ö²Ê
Department of Theatre Alumni. Evan received his MFA in Lighting Design; with an
emphasis on Dance and Opera, from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music,
in 2020. As a designer Evan believes in the power of storytelling through lighting and the
connection of Actor, Audience, Stage, and Story. As an educator and mentor, Evan believes in the
individual student’s past, present, and future as a paving stone for their design aesthetic. Each
student is to be unique, individualistic, and carved of their own stone, supported throughout their
growth as an artist.
Design and Production Partnerships with; Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet, Louisville
Opera, University of Cincinnati, American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, and Contemporary
American Theatre Festival.
