Ad Hoc Centers and Institutes Committee

Charges 2023-24

The current University policy on centers and institutes was approved in 2014. MOA-14/03: Revised Policy on Centers and Institutes:

 The charges for this ad hoc committee are to:

  1. Compile an accurate list of WMU Centers and Institutes. Conclude the initiative by requesting revision of the University Centers and Institutes website: /directories/centers
  2. Review Memorandum of Action-14/03 to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the MOA. Conclude the initiative by producing a report to the Executive Board.
  3. Develop processes to review all WMU Center and Institutes. Determine the review cycle, criteria, and reviewers. Conclude the Initiative by producing a Memorandum of Action.
  4. Submit an report to the Faculty Senate summarizing reviews and recommendations.
  5. Address any continuing or outstanding issues or initiatives as directed by the Executive Board, members of the committee, faculty, and/or academic administrators. Conclude the initiative by producing a report to the Executive Board or a Memorandum of Action.

NOTE: The Ad Hoc Centers and Institutes Committee will seek information from any administrative office to maintain communication with that office on issues directly related to it. Committee recommendations are to be submitted to the Executive Board in the form of a Memorandum of Action (MOA) on which the recommendation(s) is/are stated. Any draft MOAs requested by the Executive Board should be submitted using the MOA template.
